Notes from the June 15 PSRG Organizational Meeting

Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting! I felt that it was a success and that some much-needed discussion about the direction that this group is heading took place.

In attendance:

Jake - GPD - W4PMP (PSRG President)
Gary - GCSO - KE4IAN (PSRG Vice President)
Eddie - GCSO - KJ4FWT
Dwane - GCSO - KJ4AEE
Randy - GCSO - KK4HNO
Ernest - GCES (Retired) - NC4EW
Chandlee - GCSO Volunteer - KJ4ADX
Fred - GCSO - NC4FR
Jerry - GFD - (No Callsign)

Topics of Discussion:

1) Incorporation of the Group, creating a charter, and obtaining 501(c)(3) non-profit status were the main topics of discussion since this is the first major obstacle that the group must overcome.

2) Selection of officers for the remaining officer positions (Secretary and Treasurer) is also a very high priority. Interested parties should contact either Gary or I to discuss this.

3) Several fundraising ideas were discussed, to include hosting a swapfest, ebay auctions, and raffles.

4) Repeater sites and equipment ideas were discussed briefly, along with different digital voice modes.

Program:

I presented a brief program about the various public safety communications systems that are used in the triad area, and what type of equipment is required to monitor them. The different types of technology in use were also discussed in detail.

Announcements:

Chandlee, KJ4ADX, noted that Field Day begins this Saturday, June 23. Field Day for Guilford County is being held at Tannenbaum Park, located at 2200 New Garden Road in Northwest Greensboro. The tent will be set up adjacent to the visitor's center.

Once again, thanks to everyone who attended!
